2km Training Plan

Cam Buchan is an International rower, coach and YouTuber. Cam was new to the GB Rowing Team senior squad for the Tokyo Olympiad having previously been selected to represent Great Britain in the men's eight for the opening World Cup of the 2018 season, winning his first senior silver medal.

Cam uses his channels and online presence to give an unprecedent insight into what performance rowing is all about allowing him to encourage many aspiring rowers and foster a wider community.


The 2km is a very well known distance for all rowers to race or test over, both on-water and indoor. 

This eight-week training plan has been designed for those looking to improve their 2km time. There are five sessions a week, all indoor rowing machine-based, and Cam has highlighted the three he would recommend as a minimum to have an impact, to help you fit the training in around your other commitments. 

We would recommend Cam's plan as a great next step after the British Rowing 2km training plans because it is a bit more rowing-machine focused and contains some longer sessions that newer indoor rowers will want to build up to.
